Organic grain transport is agricultural bulk with one extra condition: the grain has to arrive as organic as it left. It cannot be mixed with conventional grain, it cannot pick up residues from the previous load and it has to be identified from start to finish.
It is a service for farmers, cooperatives, grain stores, feed mills and flour mills that work with certified product and need a haulier who understands what is at stake on every journey. An organic lot that arrives contaminated loses its value, and by then nothing can be done about it at destination.
At Transcosur organic bulk is a service in its own right within our bulk haulage. The lorry is similar; the way we work is not.
Typically we move grain from the farm or store to the plant that processes it, or between stores when lots need to be combined or split. If your organic product is not on the list but travels in bulk, ask us and we will tell you whether it fits.
Before every organic load we inspect the trailer and leave it clean and dry, with no residue from the previous load. The walking floor helps a great deal here: its floor pushes the goods right to the end and the trailer is practically empty after unloading, so cleaning starts from a better place.
If your certification body or your customer asks for a record of the cleaning or of what the lorry carried before, tell us when you book.
Organic grain travels as a full load with a single lot. We do not combine it with conventional grain or with any other load that could leave residues. If you have small lots of different products, we handle them separately.
The grain travels covered so that no water, dust or road dirt gets in. Grain that gets wet can heat up and spoil in store, organic or not.
EU organic production rules require the product not to be mixed or contaminated during transport and to be identified, so that at destination everyone knows what it is, who it comes from and its certification status. That paperwork is prepared by whoever sells or ships the grain; we carry it with the load and hand it over at destination together with the transport documents.
We load organic grain in the same two trailers as the rest of our bulk. What decides which one suits you is mainly how it is unloaded at destination.
| Situation at destination | Trailer that usually fits |
|---|---|
| Unloading inside a building or under a low roof | Walking floor |
| Uneven or sloping ground | Walking floor |
| Hopper or pit with firm ground and clear headroom | Tipper |
| A destination you do not know well | Walking floor, to be safe |
The walking floor trailer unloads by pushing the grain out with its floor, without raising the body, so it gets into buildings where a tipper will not fit. The tipper is faster when there is room to raise the body and the ground can take it. If you are not sure what the unloading point is like, tell us and we will work it out with you.
We work under a quality management system certified to UNE-EN ISO 9001:2015 for road freight transport, and that shows where it matters most here: every step done and recorded.
France and Spain are our main markets, and we have regular customers and routes in both directions. For bulk that helps us match outbound and return journeys and have a lorry available when you need one. If your grain starts or ends in France, see also how we handle road freight between Spain and France.
